Our Heads of Year

Our Heads of Year support students with their attendance, attitude to learning and achievement. After the PL (form) tutors they are the next point of contact for parents.
Miss Colson is joining the pastoral team as the Head of Year 11.
She began her career in teaching at a rural school on the outskirts of Southampton after graduating from the University of Plymouth with a first class degree alongside qualified teacher status. During her time at university, she experienced teaching across all key stages but was particularly fond of KS4. She has incredible experiences of teaching in an international school in Chile and has loved learning that maths is a universal language after observing lessons in Hungary.
Miss Colson is a keen swimmer and has recently swum 3 miles across a shipping channel from Portsmouth to the Isle of Wight for charity. She is incredibly passionate about maths and is looking forward to supporting and guiding Year 11 through their GCSEs and transition to further education. She is keen to ensure that every student achieves their potential and leaves the Iceni Academy with the skills and foundations to support lifelong learning.
Merryn is joining the pastoral team as the Head of Year 10.
She started her studies in Norwich at the University of East Anglia where she gained a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature.
After graduating, Merryn began working at a Norwich Stockbroking firm as a trader, whilst in the role she gained Associate status from the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments.
After four years in finance, Merryn returned to UEA to complete her teacher training and gain qualified teaching status.
Merryn will bring enthusiasm and commitment to the role, ensuring our students are happy and fulfilling their potential.
