The football season so far

Each Year Group has also had it’s own team competing in the National Cup. We’ve had a great start in the Leagues, but have struggled in the Cup, here are the details:

League Football

Year 7 started positively, but found themselves constantly pipped to victory in their opening games. However, they have grown as a team, and following superb attitudes in PE, we recorded our first win and by far way and away our best performance in our final game before Christmas against Wayland:

Lost to Wymondham High 1-0

Lost to Wymondham College 2-1

Beat Wayland 3-2

The Juniors have gelled fantastically and have been a delight to watch at times. Unfortunately, Wymondham College postponed our fixture until the new year, but I have high hopes we could be pushing on to win the league:

Beat Wymondham High 4-2

Wymondham College POSTPONED

Beat Wayland 11-0

The Seniors have also impressed this season, putting in some dogged displays in what appears to be a very competitive league this season. With all to still to play for going in to the second part of the season, our results so far are:

Beat Wymondham High 6-2

Lost to Wymondham College 3-0

Lost to Wayland 3-2

National Cup

It’s been our hardest year in the National Cup, with all four teams out by Round 2. Year 7 were narrowly beaten in Round 1 by Horringer. Year 8 beat Westley 2-0 in Round 1 but suffered a comprehensive defeat to Langley in Round 2. Year 9 had a bye in Round 1 and despite being very confident going into the Round 2 tie against Archbishop, saw themselves on the wrong side of a 4-2 scoreline. Year 10, as they did the previous year, had to face another very impressive Langley side, managed by Norwich legend Grant Holt no less, and battled well in a heavy defeat by an outstanding side. We will have to try again next year…

As ever you can find all team photos and mini match reports on our Twitter Page @IceniPE and all National Cup Fixtures at http://www.esfa.co.uk/competitions/. Finally, thank you for your continued support.
